Mauritius, on the other hand, is one of the smaller islands in the Indian Ocean and is located about 2,000 miles east of India. The island nation has a population of almost 1.3 million people and is ranked as the eleventh most populous country in the world.
Mauritius has a visa-on-arrival program for tourists who are citizens of countries that are members of the Commonwealth or have diplomatic relations with Mauritius. Citizens of any country can apply for a visa at an embassy or consulate if they have a passport that meets the requirements specified by Mauritius’ government. The application process typically takes between two and four weeks to complete and costs around $60 USD. Once a visa has been granted, visitors must visit an immigration office to obtain a visitor’s permit which will allow them to remain in Mauritius for up to 60 days.
